Flower Mound, Texas Community Information

The Town of Flower Mound is located primarily in southern Denton County. Less than 10 minutes from Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, Flower Mound is a popular suburb in North Texas. It is named after the 12 acre mound of flowers near the center of town. The south west border meets Grapevine Lake and borders the city's of Grapevine, Argyle, Lewisville, Highland Village, Double Oak and Bartonville.

Flower Mound's population of approximately 77,000 enjoys extensive parks and trails. The town's inhabitants enjoy a large amounts of open space due to several ranches mostly located in the western half of the town. In addition, quite a few neighborhoods boast lot sizes of 1 acre or more. This is often required by the town due to the Cross Timbers Conservation Development District

Flower Mound was incorporated in 1961 in order to avoid being annexed by Irving. The majority of the town's growth took place between 1980 and 2000 when the population went from 4,402 to 50,702. While the town is still growing to this day, the rate has dropped significantly since its peak in the 90's.
